when we're HELPING we're HAPPY

Tessa takes it upon herself to make sure she helps me out everyday. She takes these JOBS very seriously and will always make sure they are DONE...ATLEAST THREE TIMES A DAY! Here are her daily chores as follows...

open the baking supply cupboard and empty it out. make sure you leave it open and everything hanging out. maybe even throw the chocolate chips in the garbage for good measure.

drag the can of cookie mix and shortening around the house and remind mom that she should be making cookies. maybe just maybe open up the shortening and stick your hand in there and give it a little taste...hmm let's put some in our hair and see what that does too.

leave the can of shortening and cookie mix right in the middle of where everyone walks so they can get some extra exercise by having to step over it.go find out if someone left the door to the bathroom open. climb up onto the counter and throw as much stuff around as you can before someone catches you and locks you out and away from your BEAUTIFUL mess.

finally go pull down the dvd blockade and rip out as many dvd's as you can. phew, you did it all...and three other times at that.

does that make me crazy

i have HAD IT with my dr's office. they can't get anything right and then they decide that they are not in the office today so they can't fix the problem. i get rx's for my menstrual cramps and i am due for a check up on monday but, i am starting this week so i asked for enough meds to get me through this week. i didn't even ask for both of the meds...just ONE!!! yesterday the nurse called me and said she called in my rx. i go pick it up, they charge me 10 dollars ( i figured i had like 8-10 pills in there). i get home, open it and find...2 pills. 2 BLOODY PILLS!!! WHAT THE FLIP AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH 2 PILLS??!! AND I LOST 10 DOLLARS OVER THIS!!! 2 pills will get me through 6 hours of the 3 days of extreme pain. so this morning i call and the receptionist informs me that my DR is not in today and there is nothing she can do for me. i soooo want to scream and yell and scream some more at her (after all i am PMSing real bad right now...REAL BAD). this is not a complicated case, i have been getting these meds for YEARS!! oh and i am also mad at the pharmacist who didn't say to me "are you aware that you are only getting 2 pills and you have to pay 10 dollars for them even though you normally get 30 pills for 20 dollars?". how hard is it for the pharmicist to tell me THIS?! needless to say i have a LOT of issues today and i feel like ripping out my hair.

what kind of a dinky nurse (who should see my chart and know how many pills i normally get) would call in a rx for 2 BLINKIN PILLS?

i think i just need for this week to be done and over already.
i am done ranting and raving...goodbye and wish me luck...the dr's office is supposed to call me tomorrow, if they can figure out how to work the phone (uuuugh i am SO SARCASTICALLY ANGRY)

monday...deja vu!!!

i was going to do a post today about how happy i am that the time has changed. more sunlight later in the day, which means i am happier. but...i am not going to talk about it. why???? because there is no sunlight to celebrate today. it is cold. it is gray and cloudy. there are a few random snowflakes falling. i am not happy. maybe tomorrow i can talk about the sunshine...then again, maybe not (this is UTAH, spring doesn't really exist...yep, the first day of spring is supposed to be on March 20).

smile, because...

here is video of my cute baby girl dancing to coldplay. she takes a couple of rests to eat her cracker and at one point wants to go on her hands to lift her leg in the air (she loves to do that) but then realizes she has to let go of the cracker if she wants to do it. this is cute and sure to put a smile on your face for a cold yucky blahhhhh day in Utah. (uploading this stinking video onto blogger took me WAY TOO LONG to figure out...total frustration).

and congrats to Molly. she won the dvd guessing contest. i counted about 500 dvd's. i know, i would have thought i had more than that too. so mo let me know what wonderful deliciousness from the ruf kitchen you would enjoy most. have a happy dancing weekend.

breakfast for dinner

i got the idea for this dinner here. i have actually cooked up a bunch of her ideas for my family. we had the cranberry pull aparts for sunday breakfast...so yummy. i have always LOVED breakfast for dinner and it is just sooo easy to whip up. here is what happened on this night of pancakes and how my family felt about this idea...
the pancake on the left is the size of pancakes i was pouring. the pancake on the right is the size my husband wanted. the pancake in the middle is what happens when your anxious husband tries to shake some of the mix out of the blender and the lid pops off. amazingly enough he was able to flip it without breaking it (now that takes talent).this one would scream at you if you weren't constantly putting pancake into her open mouth.
brenton declared this to be his favorite dinner...ever. hmmm, i wonder if that has anything to do with the raspberry sauce and whip cream atop the pancakes.
kylee is showing me how much she loved the dinner (and she is just a goof ball in front of the camera). that coke in the picture is not hers...it's mine (don't worry we don't feed our children coke at dinner, we have told them when they are adults they can drink as much as they want...since walt and i are such wonderful examples in that area...hahahahaha).

lesson learned

do NOT leave opened bag of chocolate chips where a one year old chocoholic can find it. especially while you are downstairs running on the treadmill and have no idea what is happening upstairs...while your almost 6 year old daughter justs sits there and laughs at the baby instead of telling you what is happening. REPEAT...DO NOT LEAVE CHOCOLATE OUT!!!

ps. i will be counting my dvds by the end of this week, sooooo if you haven't entered the contest yet i suggest you do so before it is toooooo late!!

monday...dark and dreary

i have a hard time dealing with life on mondays...then, you have to add dark clouds to it. I AM TOAST. i don't know why i have to have these feelings when there is no sunlight? i think i have bad chemicals in my brain (name that movie molly). but really i kinda feel that way a little. today i woke up and looked out my front door and saw this...
when i see this, for some reason i just sense doom and gloom. there is no rhyme or reason to it...i just feel it. this then leads to anxiety issues...i start to think about what bad things are going to happen today because it looks so very sad outside (this is why i need to see my dr about getting my anxiety meds refilled). so all day today i have felt this way and i just can't think or rationalize my way out of it. i NEED THE SUNLIGHT.

last night over at my parents house i was up in the kitchen with my sister molly. someone changed to the channel of the tv downstairs and all molly had to hear was a millisecond of the movie and she yells "who's watching LORD OF THE RINGS?". i looked at her and said "how do you know that?". she then said "if i got that right...then that is really sad". i looked at the tv and sure enough she was right...which can only mean, molly is really sad (you should do a post about your obsession mo).
this got me thinking about light and dark. the evil is always surrounded by the dark ominous clouds and when the good comes to fight there is always light with it. I LOVE THE LIGHT AND THE FEELING IT GIVES YOU. i love that light can ALWAYS overcome the darkness. i love these movies and how happy they make you when the good overcomes the evil.
on another note my kylee and brenton kept trying to watch this on the tv. i think it is still a little too scary for them. they keep trying to convince me otherwise...just like THE DARK KNIGHT battle i have with brenton.

i LOVE me mum and dad

well we have come to the end of the month...shwooooo that was hard. to be honest there were days that i wanted to complain about life but had to stay POSITIVE. i think i am only good at doing that for a month otherwise my head was going to burst. i don't think i was born with a strong postive thinking gene. the cynical definately overpowers that one...i keep trying to work on being and thinking on the postive side. but, i have come to accept who i am...now could someone please remind my husband of this (he LOVES to give me the think positive quotes that i HATE so badly...they just do not work on me and my brain). anyways, there is some of the old me creeping back into the blog hehehe, i am ending this month with LOVE for my mom and dad. i LOVE LOVE LOVE them so very very much. they have always been there for me no matter what the situation...they can also see straight through me when i have lied to them(i wasn't THE PERFECT TEEN/YOUNG ADULT). they gave me the parental curse of "marci i sure hope you have a child just like you so you can figure out how to deal with them"...fast forward to ..... kylee being born. the curse REALLY does work ( i should warn kylee).
my dad is the bestest father and grandfather ever. when he found out i was pregnant with Brenton his reaction was, "i can't wait to take him to the zoo...we are going to have such a good time". and to the zoo they went, numerous times now. and when my dad is back home where he belongs i am sure they will go many many more times.
my mom is also the bestest mom in the world. she has made it to all of my kids performances (along with my dad) and always makes a big deal out of them. notice the gift ky is holding per grandma being so proud of her. my mom has always supported me in all my choices when it comes to family issues and she will always tell me if i am in the wrong or right, regardless if i am her daughter or not (thank you for that).

how many grandpa's out there are willing to let their grandchildren crawl all over them and wrestle with them???? this picture was taken the day before my dad left...booooooo!!!
my mom always lets the grandkids do WHATEVER THEY WANT. i guess it is what all grandmothers are allowed to do. i can't threaten my kids when i am leaving my moms that they had better get in the car or they are being left behind. they just look at me and say,"can you bring my pajama's back and a change of clothes?"

i LOVE having all of my DVD'S

i love buying movies/dvd's. yes, i believe i could rival blockbuster(granted i only have one copy of everything). because i love them so much and have SO MANY of them i have decided to have a contest. whoever gets the closest guess as to how many dvd's i own will win...something. okay if you live near me you will get your choice of some home baked goods, if you don't live near me i will come up with something else (not sure what yet but, i will figure it out depending on who wins). GOOD LUCK GUESSING...if you want to play my game.
Behold...all of the adult movies. Brenton keeps trying to convince me that he can watch The Dark Knight.
but look at all these choices he has to pick from...too many. this is where we keep all of our family/kid friendly movies.
here is what happens to our kids room within a few days of putting all the movies away.
and here is my room...yes i have a tv in my room and i LOVE IT. this is where all of the ROM COM'S end up staying.
so when i am counting i will be counting our series dvds as just one per season (i do own a few series dvd's...speaking of which there is one that i need to go get at walmart...hmmmm). and i am not counting our vhs tapes (yes, we do have some of those too).

i REALLY do LOVE my siblings...REALLY

i know that alot of you out there think that you have a tight relationship with your brothers and sisters...honestly, no one is quite as tight as the metcalf clan. just ask scott (nic's hubby) or walter (my hubby)...they married into this very exclusive tight knit group. i love my family so much it is the ONLY reason i am not in California this very second. although, i know that if i moved there they would be crashing my place all the time. i just want them to know...I LOVE YOU GUYS!!
nic is the peacemaker of the family and the second born. she is always the one who just wants everybody to be happy and get along. she is my hang out mom since we are both home now with kids and need to keep eachother entertained. i love her very much.
kyle is our only boy and is the third born. he is extremely sarcastic and very smart when it comes to electronic issues. any problem i have when it comes to home electronic crap i always call him and he is always willing to help me. he loves music and movies as much as i do...he even sat through the oscars on sunday with the flu, that is dedication. i love him very much.

oh molly molly molly what can i say? she is the BABY of the family and was therefore always taken care of. we have now taken to calling kylee, molly number 2. they both have the exact same attitude...they are in charge and everybody has to listen to them and if you don't listen to them...they get mad!!! molly is always willing to do stuff with me. go to movies, go shopping, go to dinner she is always there. i like to think that i taught HER to love music and movies. i love her very much.

LOVE the new "best picture"

every year my family and friends get together and have an "oscar party". we watch and analyze the dresses and who we like and dislike. although, the past few years none of us actually have seen the big nominees ( i really don't understand HOW these movies are nominated) and therefore don't know a whole lot about who we liked in what. FINALLY this year a movie won that i SAW AND LOVED A WHOLE LOT. i am so happy for slumdog millionaire (and that MILK didn't win...yeah, when people in hollywood get on their political and religious soapboxes...i hate them!!!)

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS MOVIE

I AM IN LOVE WITH THE MUSIC (AS IS KYLEE)
I AM IN LOVE WITH THE ACTORS (AND VERY MUCH SO THE KIDS)

i LOVE weddings and wedding dresses!!

but it is mostly the wedding dresses. i could look for hours at wedding magazines and still pick out stuff for a wedding i already had. seriously, molly i need you to get engaged so i can go try on wedding dresses now that i am skinny again. when nic was engaged and trying on wedding dresses i was 8 months pregnant (that is NO FUN!). if i could i would go into a store and pretend i needed a wedding dress just to try them on and look at how beautiful they are. the other day i was telling walter i wish we could renew our vows and have a big reception again. after a little more discussion of it, it boiled down to this...
1. i want a day for ME
2. i want a new dress for ME
3. i want a big party that is about ME
4. i want another wedding dress to wear for ME
this was the day i was finally able to take my wedding dress home, alterations were finished. the seamstress kept insisting that i was going to gain weight going on birth control and i shouldn't take it in so much. yep, i was right...i didn't gain an ounce and it fit perfectly.
yes, my soon to be husband saw me in my wedding dress before the wedding...i couldn't have cared less. he HAD to see how BEAUTIFUL it was!!! below are pictures of dresses that i would pick out now...if we were renewing our vows...and having a big party for ME...a girl can dream can't she?

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE COLOR...OOOOH I LOVE IT!!

Beautiful Lace, So Delicate

i LOVE pockets, ruffles, and simplicity (these all just need a little color added to them somewhere)
